On May 9th and 10th, the 8th edition of ICT Spring brought together 5,000 participants, who discussed tech innovation, space and startups, at the European Convention Center of Luxembourg. After an intense first day of conferences, 1,500 professionals attended the Networking Cocktail and over 600 of them took part in the European ICT Awards Dinner.
After an introduction by Pierre Henin, Managing Director, Dell EMC Luxembourg and a speech by Gertrud Ingestad, Director-General for the European Commission's IT-Department, DIGIT, the results of the Future FinTech Star Award were finally announced. The evening was moderated by Sabinije Von Gaffke, Communications expert, content creator and TV Host.
Bitwala, Future FinTech Star
With its 25,000 users who have already transferred €15 million since 2014, Bitwala was named Future FinTech Star. The German startup uses the Blockchain to transport money between the sender and receiver in only 10-20 minutes.
Other competitors were recognized by the jury: MarketInvoice took the second place for its peer-to-peer invoice finance platform, and 10x Banking completed the podium with its universal platform, allowing an improved user experience.
The Pitch your Start-up results revealed
During the day, 18 startups from all over the world pitched in front of a room of investors and entrepreneurs. The competition, organized by Docler Holding and Luxinnovation, saw AIVA technologies win the 50,000€. The company based in Luxembourg focused and
Soccer legend and World Cup winner with France in 1998, Christian Karembeu who gave a presentation on sports, technology and emotions earlier in the day, attended the gala dinner and handed the prize to the winning startup.
The evening ended with the traditional ICT Spring party which saw tech and digital experts exchange and share their knowledge and best practices.
